Good morning, fellow Toastmasters and Guests - Welcome to the Swiss Alpine Conference.

I am delighted to see you all and I thank you for your presence.

But I want to see you all smile. The power of a smile can make your day feel brighter and lighter - so powder your face with sunshine and put on that great big smile.

The greatest happiness you can give the world is to make people smile. Smile at the world and the world will smile with you. Frown at the world and the world will frown back at you.

I want to share a secret with you all - I want to make the whole of Berne smile.

Why can some people see beautiful blue skies, green grass, lovely flowers, and meet incredible human beings like you all? Because they are smiling! And others don't notice the beauty around them, because they are not smiling.

My sincere advice to you all is, never postpone a smile.

Then you will be like little children who are chasing their dreams and rainbows to find their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If you want a place on an island in the sun, you will have to put up with some blisters and mosquito stings - and smile!

Your life will never be fulfilled until you are cheerful.

So please, sit back, relax, don't worry, be happy!  Have a real great day, and Smile!

Pamela Holzinger, President, Toastmasters Club of Berne.
